Arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol
Over the past few days, police arrested four (4) drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Wednesday, May 27th, at around 3:10 AM, a 19-year-old man with the initials T.G.J.d.V. was arrested on Kaya Grandi. A patrol spotted two people on a scooter riding in the wrong direction and signaled the driver to stop for a check. During the check, the suspect showed various characteristics of a person under the influence, and a breathalyzer test was conducted. It turned out he had consumed more alcohol than legally permitted. The suspect’s driver’s license was confiscated.

Wednesday, May 27th, at around 2:15 AM, a 40-year-old woman with the initials G.M.R. was arrested on Kaya C.E.B. Hellmund. A patrol stopped the suspect’s vehicle for a routine check. During the check, she could not produce a valid driver’s license. Additionally, she showed various characteristics of a person under the influence. A breathalyzer test was conducted, which showed she had consumed more alcohol than legally permitted. The suspect was arrested and fined for driving without a license.

Tuesday, May 26th, at around 1:35 AM, a 20-year-old man with the initials S.W.S.B. was arrested on Kaya Nikiboko Sùit. A patrol spotted a scooter with two people on it and signaled the driver to stop for a routine check. A breathalyzer test was conducted on the suspect, and it turned out he had consumed more alcohol than legally permitted. The suspect was given a 3-hour driving ban.

Tuesday, May 26th, at around 1:25 AM, a 21-year-old man with the initials T.B. was arrested on Kaya Libertador Simon Bolivar. The suspect was stopped on his scooter during a traffic check targeting alcohol consumption, and it turned out he had consumed more alcohol than legally permitted. The suspect was given a 4-hour driving ban.

All suspects were transported to the police station for further corresponding procedures. They will also receive a report (proces-verbaal).

Accident between two cars
On Tuesday, May 26th, at around 10:00 AM, the central dispatch center received a notification regarding an accident between two cars on Kaminda di Gurubu. One of the drivers was injured, and an ambulance transported them to the hospital for a medical checkup. The other driver received a fine for driving without valid insurance. In accordance with the “colliding is blowing” (botsen is blazen) policy, a breathalyzer test was conducted on only one driver, and there was no indication of alcohol use. Due to medical priority, the other driver could not be tested. The cars sustained considerable damage.

Burglary at lottery office
On Tuesday, May 26th, a complaint was filed regarding a burglary at a building on Kaya Pedro Luis Brion. Unknown individuals gained access to the lottery office and made off with several bags containing cash money. The case is under investigation.

Theft from vehicle at dive site
On Monday, May 25th, a complaint was filed regarding theft from a car parked near “1000 Steps” on Kaminda Turístiko. While the occupants were snorkeling, unknown individuals stole, among other things, bags, three iPhones, wallets with their contents, cash, and sunglasses. The case is under investigation.

Planned traffic control
During the afternoon hours of Monday, May 25th, police recruits under the guidance of police officers conducted a traffic control on Kaya Internashonal. E control was aimed at maintaining traffic safety. During this control, 29 vehicles were stopped and checked, and 6 fines were issued.

The fines were given for the following violations:

2x for driving without valid insurance;

4x for driving without a driver’s license and without valid insurance.

Additionally, a car was confiscated during the traffic check. The driver could not produce a driver’s license or insurance documents. Furthermore, the license plates on the vehicle were flagged by police as lost, and the driver refused to say who the vehicle belonged to. For this reason, the vehicle and the license plates were confiscated.

Traffic controls will continue.
