Joshua says in chapter 24, verse 15 of the book of Joshua: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The first place where a person must demonstrate that they are a good Christian and servant of God is at home. It is difficult to be well-regarded on the street as a Christian and child of God if, in your own home, they do not recognize that Christ Jesus lives in you, because at home you are different: you yell, fight, use bad language, lack respect, and your family does not respect you.
It is ugly and annoying before God and people when a married couple communicates with bad words. That is not right, and the peace of God is not in that home.
Your house or your home must be God’s territory:
Pray in your home, sing praises, and practice fasting.
Keep your home free from idolatry, witchcraft, santeria, strife, manipulation, gossip, rebellion, alcohol, and drugs.
Do not bring just any kind of friend into your home; do not permit illegalities, theft, lies, pornography, or diabolical games.
Invite people to pray, prepare your home for the gospel, and make it a house of love and forgiveness.
Do not allow gambling; be content with what you have.
Teach your children to respect others, to respect themselves, and, above all, to fear God.
As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and forgive one another. And above all these things, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity (Colossians 3:12-14). Teach your children to value where they live, to keep the house and yard clean, to respect each other, and to live a pure and decent life.
Always remember that our home and our life belong to God; our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who is within us. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God (Hebrews 3:4). Pray in your home and ask God to fill your entire family with spiritual knowledge and discernment. Persevere in prayer at all times, stay united, because there is strength in unity. Your home is God’s territory today and forever.
