Cultural musical production ‘Zjeitu Den Bo Cura’
With great pride, the Zjeitu group is launching its first live session, presenting the work ‘Zjeitu Den Bo Cura’, in close collaboration with the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA). Recorded last March in the heart of Savaneta, the production brought together a cast of musicians and artists to demonstrate the cultural brotherhood between Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao.
‘Zjeitu Den Bo Cura’ is a mix of original Zjeitu songs and cultural songs from Aruba, featuring compositions by Cesar ‘C-Zar’ Olarte, Bernadina Growell, Etty Toppenberg, Don Ramon Krozendijk, Chendell Beaumont, Edson ‘Chon’ Frans, and Dwight Leoneta.
The iconic voice of Cesar Olarte opens the live session with a rendition of his song ‘Aruba ta Bendiciona’, with which he competed in the Anthem and Flag Festival.
Zjeitu singers Jetzi Martinez, Kito Tey, François, and Rocco Franken were accompanied by guest artists Edson ‘Chon’ Frans and Rayshantaly Coffie from Bonaire, Tyeisha Bernabela from Curaçao, and, as mentioned, Cesar ‘C-Zar’ Olarte from Aruba.
Together with the musicians who contributed to Zjeitu’s musical strength, they bring an hour-long set of pieces paying tribute to Aruban culture, reinforced by the musical ties of Bonaire and Curaçao.
A project to conserve and revitalize our musical heritage
More than just a musical production, ‘Zjeitu Den Bo Cura’ aims to celebrate, conserve, and revitalize Aruba’s traditional musical heritage. Through a cultural medley, Zjeitu brings back to life songs and musical styles that were part of our identity, but over time had become less prominent in public performances.
The repertoire combines traditional and typical Aruban songs with new musical arrangements inspired by the roots of our music and sister islands. In this way, the project breathes life into our musical heritage, presenting it in a modern and attractive format, but always with respect for its authenticity and cultural identity.
As part of the initiative, several selected songs were professionally recorded and edited, creating content to be shared via digital platforms and, at the same time, preserved for future generations.
This collaboration illustrates how tourism and culture can strengthen one another: creating space for our artists and our cultural heritage, while sharing an authentic piece of Aruba’s history and soul, and our brotherhood, with the world.
‘Zjeitu Den Bo Cura’ is a project by Ambiensis Entertainment and Elite Productions with major support from the Aruba Tourism Authority. The audiovisual production was created by Rec Light Productions, while mixing and audio were handled by Dwight Leoneta (DL Music Lab).
