GGD Bonaire / Public Health of the Public Entity Bonaire has launched the Nothing Nada Nix18 campaign. With this campaign, attention is drawn to the risks of alcohol use under the age of 18. The campaign targets youth, parents, family members, and other adults.
The official launch in Bonaire took place today, October 14, 2026, with the unveiling of the Nothing Nada Nix18 mural. Present at the launch were Commissioner Timoteo Silberie, Mrs. Sulay Lau on behalf of the Ministry of Public Health, GGD Bonaire / Public Health, partners, and other involved organizations.
Everyone Has a Role Although young people learn to make conscious choices themselves, they are not alone. The Nothing Nada Nix18 campaign primarily focuses on the crucial role of the environment. Parents, but also family members, schools, organizations, and other adults can contribute to an environment in which young people can grow up healthy and safe. By setting a good example and talking to young people about alcohol, adults can support them in making healthy choices.
The Message with Images and Music Nothing Nada Nix18 is a Caribbean adaptation of the NIX18 campaign. The campaign was developed with input from the Caribbean region and is presented in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba, Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten. By conveying the same message together, the islands aim to reach young people and adults in a recognizable way.
An important part of the campaign is a song and video clip available in Papiamento, Dutch, and English. Through music and imagery, the message is conveyed in an accessible way. The video clip addresses the consequences of alcohol use at a young age and aims to encourage conversation about this topic.
