The Aruban Olympic Committee (COA) recently met with the “Aruba Wieler Bond” (AWB) to meet and welcome the members of the new board of directors. The new AWB board consists of President Joey Koevermans, who, together with other board members, shared their vision and ideas for the cycling federation.
The AWB board recognizes the need to work on a development plan for all disciplines falling under the federation, ensuring each is given proper attention based on its unique requirements. To achieve this, efforts are underway to sit down with all member clubs to understand their goals and jointly build a plan to accomplish them. In addition, the federation is in the process of updating its statutes to comply with local laws and the requirements of the international cycling union, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
The federation plans to organize several events throughout this calendar year and will share these with all member clubs, as well as through the press and social media, to invite everyone interested in the sport of cycling. The COA is pleased to see an AWB board with engaging ideas and a strong drive to bring cycling closer to our community.
