Aruba’s water and energy company now has a dedicated Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Recently, management and employees of WEB Aruba welcomed Alfredo Ruiz, who has entered service as Chief Technical Officer (CTO). The position of CTO is part of the official organizational structure according to WEB Aruba’s statutes. The parent company, Utilities Aruba, has taken an important step by appointing a CTO to further strengthen WEB Aruba’s operations.
Alfredo Ruiz will lead and strengthen the technical area in its broadest sense and provide strategic direction in the development and optimization of our production. The management of WEB Aruba now consists of CEO Alfredo Koolman and CTO Alfredo Ruiz.
Alfredo Ruiz is an engineer well known in the refinery and utilities sector. He began as a combustion engineer at the Aruba refinery and, for more than 25 years, has built an impressive career in management and engineering across various technologies for fossil and sustainable energy production and distribution, water desalination plants, waste separation and processing, and natural gas. In addition, he has extensive experience in wind and solar energy projects and energy storage. Alfredo Ruiz’s most recent position was at Aqualectra on the sister island of Curaçao.
WEB Aruba is at the start of a new Corporate Strategy for the coming years. This corporate strategy, among other things, focuses on a transition from fossil energy to more sustainable energy. This is becoming increasingly important, especially considering the current global geopolitical situation. As management, CEO Koolman and CTO Ruiz will be responsible for managing and guiding WEB Aruba to continue providing reliable, sustainable, and affordable water and energy now and in the future
