The question that the community is asking today is not a matter of opinion, but of the obligation of accountability of a government in a rule of law. When a Prime Minister acts, they do so in their capacity as a leader; therefore, every action must be embedded in the chain of public control.
The lack of explanation regarding the “selection criteria” and the “source of funding” for painting private homes breaks the trust in our institutions. In a democracy, the use of Land Aruba employees for private work without an existing ordinance or public directive justifying it raises serious questions of abuse of power. This is a form of favoritism that contradicts the obligations of equal treatment that the government has toward all citizens. Transparency is not a privilege that the government grants; it is a right that stems from our constitutional system.
Furthermore, Minister Gerlien Croes and Minister Geoffrey Wever follow the same modus operandi. Three heads of government, all three lacking transparency, where the people’s money is at stake. To this day, Minister Geoffrey Wever does not stand responsible for compliance with the HOFA; he lacks the decency and the face to speak the truth as to why the money of the Country of Aruba does not go to Government departments to improve them so they can provide the service the people deserve ?.
At the same time, Minister Gerlien Croes, whose communication behavior continues to be questioned, does not respond to the people or Parliament regarding the details of her private jet trips. A lack of respect perhaps the political mistake in whom the people placed their trust? A minister who can clearly be seen to lack the decency and the face to speak the truth? Is that why she hides from her own mirror?
Three heads who are practically destroying a country, or are they really leading Aruba into a dark future? With cosmetics that appear to be the right path, but what is the reality? Is this what Aruba voted for?
