Raising Awareness and Sharing Knowledge in a Dynamic Way
This past Saturday, during the Athletes’ Forum organized by the Aruba Athletes’ Commission (AAC), several workshops took place — including one led by ARUNADO, the local organization responsible for all anti-doping matters. For this session, President Patrick Werleman and Doping Control Officer (DCO) Marco Dupersoy delivered an engaging and interactive presentation covering every aspect of anti-doping.
The world of anti-doping is vast, and the workshop covered multiple topics such as the use and risks of supplements, the doping control process, the rules governing anti-doping violations, and athletes’ rights and responsibilities within the anti-doping framework. Because these topics can be complex and wide-ranging, the information was presented in a creative and accessible way.
A large variety of materials was prepared to facilitate games and group exercises, creating a fun, engaging, and educational environment where young participants could share ideas and learn about anti-doping together. The ARUNADO team took part in all the activities and exchanged knowledge directly with the participants throughout the session.
At the end, a useful tool was introduced: through www.globaldro.com, athletes and their support staff can easily check whether supplements or medications they wish to use are allowed and safe under anti-doping regulations.
ARUNADO extends its gratitude to the Athletes’ Commission and the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA) for the opportunity to participate in the Athletes’ Forum, where there was clear enthusiasm and engagement from the young attendees. Patrick and Marco congratulated the organizers for this first-ever forum in Aruba’s history, noting that it was an overwhelming success.
ARUNADO encourages all sports federations and clubs to reach out and organize their own anti-doping workshops, to continue spreading this essential knowledge throughout the sporting community.
