Dutch professors sharply criticize how poorly Aruba’s ministers interpret the Kingdom Act HOFA

Parlamentario Endy Croes

Parliamentarian Endy Croes states that the Netherlands is closely watching Aruba, and that the message has already been made clear after the meeting held in Aruba with the Parliament of Aruba — where the factions of FUTURO and AVP participated, although Mike de Meza of the AVP did not give consensus for the Aruban government to proceed with the procedure outlined in the Kingdom Act HOFA.

According to Croes, professors from the Dutch Senate (Eerste Kamer) could not believe that the Parliament of Aruba had made this decision. At the same time, the professors provided advice and strongly emphasized the importance of Article 38.

However, what became most evident, Croes says, is that Minister Wever has not read the HOFA Act and is not fully aware of all the implications and risks contained within the Kingdom Act HOFA, and that it conflicts with Aruba’s Constitution (Staatsregeling).
