On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the first public transport bus arrived on our island. The Public Entity Bonaire is preparing the launch of the bus service so that residents can soon use public transportation.
The arrival of the bus is an important development for Bonaire. Four more buses are expected at the beginning of 2027. Until then, the first bus will be used on a temporary route. As soon as the other buses are available, the transport service will be expanded with a new route schedule. The Public Entity Bonaire is working together on this project with Autobusbedrijf Curaçao (ABC).
Commissioner Dennis Martinus expressed his delight at the arrival of the first bus:
“We are extremely happy with the arrival of the first bus in Bonaire. Many residents have been waiting for this for years. It is wonderful to see public transport becoming a reality now. It is an important amenity for our community.”
