When we are humble, God protects, favors, and defends the humble person. A humble person is available to be used by God. A humble person always reaches out a hand to help others. A humble person does not look only at their own interests, but the interests of others matter to them as well. A humble person always has a word to encourage their neighbor. A humble person does not look for ways to harm their neighbor. A humble person lives by the truth, and what the word of God says, that is the truth. A proud person acts as if they don’t need anyone, not even God; they are independent. A humble person recognizes that they depend on God, that God has first place in their life, and that God is at the head of their home, marriage, and family. A humble person does not let money dominate their life, because they are well aware that money is temporary, and only in Christ Jesus do we have eternal life. If you are humble, stay humble, stay on God’s side and do not get involved in things that do not please God. Do not let the devil or anyone use you, stay safe, keep your faith, stay clean, keep pure thoughts, do not contaminate yourself with the pride, falsehood, infidelity, malice, immorality, and wickedness that the world offers. Keep your eyes fixed on Christ Jesus to be a friend of God. Look closely at the advantage that a humble person has in life: James 4:6 says: But He gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble. James 4:10 says: Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. Proverbs 22:4: Humility and the fear of the Lord provide wealth, honor, and life. Pride brings a person low, but one who is lowly in spirit gains honor. (Proverbs 29:23). Nowadays, humility is considered foolishness, because the humble person does not easily fall into the cruel game of this world’s persecution; they remain calm because they know that everyone must one day give an account to God. Humility shows us that there is no kind of gain in revenge, hatred, and arrogance, and that everything has its time. Furthermore, there is no one who can fall so low that God cannot lift them up, and no one sitting so high that God cannot bring them down, so humility must be our daily bread in order to defeat the plans of Satan and his group of demons.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18). David was humble; Goliath was proud and vindictive, and now everyone knows who won the battle, because God will never allow pride to defeat humility. When the hand of God begins to deal with a heart full of pride—which thinks money and power are everything, and often destroys its neighbor with its own mouth—only repentance and confession to God can help them. This matter is very serious, because the humble person will always have the advantage that God gives them, because God knows their heart. It is good for us as parents to do everything possible to raise humble children; when a child is proud and disrespectful, the shame falls on their parents. Sincerely, Pastor Marcel Balootje.
