The MAN-PIN Fraction has requested that the meeting with the Minister of Finance regarding the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (Landsverordening op de Kansspelen, LOK) be postponed. Recent developments are extremely serious and discredit the name of our country. The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has confirmed unauthorized access to its online gaming portal managed in Malta, which lasted for several months while a forensic investigation is currently underway. Additionally, Minister Cooper indicated that there are ongoing local and international investigations into the situation, current sectoral developments, and contracts that have been awarded.
For the MAN-PIN Fraction, it is irresponsible to enter into a debate while investigations are still incomplete and may not provide full clarity on existing questions.
First investigate, discover the truth, and then debate
We already warned in 2024 about the risks of placing control over our data, platform, and jurisdiction in external hands without sufficient checks and balances. Today, the leaked data demonstrates that these concerns were not hypothetical, but a harsh reality.
Our MAN-PIN Fraction believes the Government must step up and assume responsibility. Following the investigations, it must be made clear to the public what transpired and what actions will be taken. Alongside the investigation, we are convinced that changes must be made to the LOK legislation to introduce greater local control and genuine checks and balances.
We will continue to insist that our jurisdiction’s infrastructure and data return to Curaçao, housed locally with Core and BlueNAP, so that Parliament and the public can be assured that our online gaming system serves Curaçao’s best interests.
