Ruthsella Agueda Jansen appointed new Acting Governor of Curaçao

The Kingdom Council of Ministers, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers of Curaçao, has nominated Mrs. Ruthsella Agueda Jansen for appointment as Acting Governor of Curaçao. Mrs. Jansen will succeed the current Acting Governor, Mrs. Michèle Russel-Capriles, whose term of office ends on September 1, 2025.

Ruthsella Jansen (66) was born in Curaçao and served as Deputy Director of Maduro & Curiëls Bank in Curaçao until her retirement in February 2024. Previously, she held various managerial positions within several government departments on the island.

Mrs. Jansen has also fulfilled several community roles. She served as Honorary Consul General of Canada for Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire, and was a member of the Complaints Advisory Committee of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.

The Acting Governor is appointed by Royal Decree for a term of six years.
