This year, SKAL of the Public Entity of Bonaire (EPB) once again presented the Sambarku di Estímulo. Q’sheantely Martines and Natanael Melaan received this recognition because of their talent, dedication, and contribution to the community.
An extra boost
The Sambarku di Estímulo has existed since 2005 and originated from SKAL (Section for Culture, Art, and Literature), in cooperation with Hubert Vis. The recognition is intended for individuals in the Bonarian community who dedicate themselves to helping others and make a positive contribution to society.
The Sambarku di Estímulo is not only an appreciation for what someone has achieved, but also an encouragement to keep growing and continue inspiring others.
Q’sheantely Martines
Q’sheantely Martines is a young, multifaceted talent in the fields of dance, theater, sports, writing, and storytelling (performing arts). She has represented Bonaire positively both locally and regionally, achieving various titles and awards.
From a young age, she has been active in dance and sports, while also making time to help others. In her free time, she shares her valuable talents and knowledge with others. In 2026, she founded her own dance group, The Royal Dances, through which she guides and inspires 23 children. In this way, she contributes to talent development and the transfer of Bonarian culture. Her family received the Sambarku di Estímulo on her behalf.
Natanael Melaan
Natanael Melaan also combines multiple talents. From a young age, he has been active in sports and dedicates time to music and composition. His passion for music and composition has led, among other things, to participation in the Tumba Festival. In addition, he guides and stimulates young musical talents. He likewise spends his free time helping others by sharing his knowledge and talent.
In 2024, he founded his own band to musically accompany children during the Children’s Tumba Festival (Festival di Tumba di Mucha). His daughter, Narghelly Melaan, won the youth category that year with the song “Rincon ta Gradisí bo”. In 2026, during the Kanta bo Boneiru festival, another composition by Natanael was crowned once again: Juliendra Janga won the youth category with the song “E mensahe pa un mihó Boneiru”.
A beautiful evening
During the presentation of the Sambarku di Estímulo, attention was given to the trajectory, development, and achievements of both individuals. Family members, guests, and EPB representatives were present.
By recognizing Q’sheantely Martines and Natanael Melaan, SKAL continues a tradition that began more than twenty years ago: recognizing talent, valuing dedication, and encouraging people to keep growing.
