In Parliament, the discussion of the LIM Ordinance (National Ordinance on the Structure of Ministries) has begun, a crucial law that provides the legal foundation for the functioning of each government ministry. During the process, various changes and updates implemented over the past months of governance were noted.
According to parliamentarian Jennifer Reyes, during the treatment of the LIM ordinance several motions and amendments were introduced. Among them, one of the most notable motions was submitted by the AVP party, proposing the appointment of a Minister Plenipotentiary in the Netherlands. According to AVP, this step is important to strengthen international relations and Aruba’s representation within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
However, at the time a candidate was presented, Minister Gelien Croes did not want to approve the Minister Plenipotentiary, who at that time was Désirée Croes. Now, almost “by magic,” the same coalition government is proposing once again to appoint a Minister Plenipotentiary, yet still fails to obtain the support of coalition partner FUTURO.
A coalition government consisting of AVP and FUTURO illustrates a complete disgrace for Aruba and represents a total failure (“rotsoy”) in the way the Country of Aruba is being governed. In all of these political games, the only ones who ultimately suffer from this disaster and the political mentality of “sweet water” are the people of Aruba.
The coalition partner, current FUTURO, is not willing to support the motion, generating significant debate about the future of the proposal for a Minister Plenipotentiary for Aruba. The legislative process for the LIM ordinance continues, including the evaluation of the motions and amendments introduced during the sessions.
Overall, this situation must be evaluated as a national embarrassment, reflecting the so-called “future generation” of politics that the FUTURO party is causing within the current government.
