Time passes, and we once wondered how it could be possible for people’s love for God to grow cold; how it could be possible that people have no time for God, or refuse to serve God because they have more important things to do for themselves.
They want to serve God in their own way, or they come with the modern idea that says everyone has their own god, and many more stories that show the immense coldness that reigns in matters concerning God.
But let us not forget what is written in Matthew 24:10–14:
And then many will fall away, and will betray one another and hate one another.
And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
And because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold.
But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Look at how wickedness is increasing: people do evil and continue in evil, until they begin to believe that what they are doing is good. The law is no longer respected.
Look carefully at how governments come into power and then refuse to step down, even when they lose elections. They begin to imprison everyone who opposes them. They want total power, go against their own constitution, and respect no law established in the country. They live by their own rules, even twisting the Word of God and filling the land with idolatry and witchcraft.
People have become worshipers of drugs and alcohol, worshipers of partying, worshipers of malice and immorality. It seems as if people do not want to leave that sinful life.
Now the gospel of God stands against them, and it has become as if killing a servant of God is easy, in order to silence him because he tires people by preaching the truth.
It is not without reason that it is written in Isaiah 5:20–21:
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight!
And it was also prophesied at that time:
Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink
(Isaiah 5:22–23),
who justify the wicked for a bribe and take away the rights of the righteous.
This means that the increase of drunkenness and corruption that exists around the world today was prophesied thousands of years ago.
In the difficult times in which we are living now, we see these things happening. The Word of God is being fulfilled to prepare us, because the coming of Christ Jesus is near. There are wars and rumors of wars around the world. Christianity is being persecuted worldwide. Terrorism and killings are everywhere. Drugs dominate even places where people never thought it possible.
Now, seeing how wickedness is increasing, let us not grow cold in our love for God.
Make an effort to gather in the house of God.
Make an effort to pray, especially together with the whole family.
Make an effort to fast and keep vigil.
Make an effort to serve God in the house of God.
Make an effort to praise and glorify God and to live for God at all times.
