The Bonaire Human Rights Organization (BHRO) is organizing a workshop at the Bonaire Public Library and invites the community to participate in the: Human Rights Workshop “Nos Tambe Tin Derecho” on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Bonaire Public Library.
The workshop will provide practical education on fundamental human rights and how individuals can understand, defend, and promote their rights within the community.
The workshop will be conducted in four languages — Papiamentu, Dutch, English, and Spanish — ensuring that human rights education is accessible to Bonaire’s diverse community.
BHRO founder James Finies states: “When human rights become known to the people of Bonaire, they will recover their dignity and their power to defend their rights.”
BHRO President Davika Bissessar Shaw says: “Our organization will pursue the ambitious goal of educating 3,000 people in Bonaire about their fundamental human rights over the next four years. Human rights education is essential for building an informed, empowered, and active civil society.”
Participants will receive human rights materials and a certificate, with the opportunity to become a Certified Human Rights Defender.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be available.
