Early Friday morning at around 1:45 a.m., the police central dispatch sent an Oranjestad patrol to an apartment located in Cumana. The initial report indicated that it was a robbery.
Upon arrival, the patrol was approached by a man who stated that a short while earlier he had been robbed by 3 men. One of them was carrying a firearm. The suspects reportedly assaulted him with the firearm by striking him in the back of the neck.
The suspects then fled with his belongings, which included various pieces of jewelry (chains, rings, and a watch) as well as cash.
The suspects were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered. They spoke Papiamento and Spanish, and fled on foot.
An ambulance was requested for the victim to check him and provide necessary medical assistance. The Robbery Team (Atraco Team) and technical police were present to conduct their investigation.
