As part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the Human Trafficking and Smuggling Unit (UMM) executed a search warrant on Tuesday, September 15, at Maxime Night Club, located on Kruisweg in Oranjestad. UMM was assisted by the UGC (Organized Crime Unit), BFO (Financial Investigation Bureau), and technical police. Administrative records, data storage devices, and a sum of money were confiscated. No arrests were made, as the investigative team is still analyzing all the collected information.
During the search, officers encountered four (4) women possibly engaged in prostitution and a female bartender who lacked the valid permits required to work. These individuals were transported and subsequently interviewed by the UMM investigative team. They were not interrogated as suspects, nor were they detained.
The investigation focuses on, among other things, possible offenses related to human smuggling and the illegal employment of personnel.
The investigation remains in full swing. No further details can be provided at this time.
The police remain committed to the fight against human trafficking and human smuggling and urge victims or witnesses to contact the tip line at 11141.
