Delno Isla Di Lionel 3

the official launch of E Isla di Lionel (Lionel’s Island), the new book by author Delno L. A. Tromp, took place at the Bonaire Public Library. The event brought together readers, literature lovers, family, friends, and community members for an inspiring afternoon centered around literature, culture, and dialogue.

Part of the program featured a conversation with Delno Tromp, in which he spoke about the book’s writing process, his inspiration, and the messages the work carries. The audience also had the opportunity to ask questions during an interactive Q&A session.

During the afternoon, excerpts from the book were read, and reviews were presented by various professionals in the field of book writing and production, as well as representatives from national libraries. This gave the audience a first look into this new novel.

Additionally, Caroline Celestijn, Sharlon Willems, and Cristely Cranston—individuals whom Delno is guiding in their own writing and publishing processes—recited various poems. There were also performances by young musicians from “seku” (a local traditional musical genre), which gave the program a varied and pleasant touch. At the end of the program, Delno presented three books to Michelle den Heyer, Judy Diaz, and Elvis Tjin Asjoe (on behalf of his late sister Mary Tjin Asjoe, R.I.P.), who are individuals that in one way or another contributed content or support during this publication process.

With E Isla di Lionel, Delno L. A. Tromp contributes to the development of local literature and emphasizes the value of telling our own stories. In this way, he wishes to inspire future generations to write and publish, so that our Papiamentu language can become richer in publications.

The book E Isla di Lionel will be available at Bruna, Del Mar, and Terramar for anyone who wishes to purchase it.
