La Salle College students get the opportunity to experience student life in Belgium

For the second consecutive year, a group of 22 students from La Salle College will travel to Belgium to participate in a student mobility project. This initiative, which began last year, is made possible thanks to the accreditation the school received and funding from the Erasmus+ program.

According to the principal of La Salle College, Rudiane Engelhart, this project was born when the school established a contact network with educational institutions in Belgium, under the guidance of Hogeschool Gent and Ghent University. The main goal is to give MAVO students the opportunity to live and feel what it means to be an international student during an intensive week.

The students will be integrated directly into the Belgian educational system, where they will follow classes according to a fixed schedule and participate in daily student life. This experience is designed to give young people a clearer and more realistic view of what it means to study abroad after finishing their school journey in Aruba.

The program offered covers a wide variety of disciplines and career orientations. Among the fields students will explore are healthcare, biotechnology, ICT, and data management. Additionally, students will gain exposure to technical and creative areas such as building techniques, woodworking, and set/display design—an orientation not offered in Aruba.

Engelhart highlighted that the study landscape for Aruban students has changed in recent years. While the main focus used to be strictly on the Netherlands, today the students’ horizons are more international, with countries like Canada, the United States, and Belgium positioning themselves as attractive alternatives for higher education.

With this second group of 22 students, La Salle College continues its commitment to opening doors and broadening the professional perspectives of its students for their academic future.
