Aruba – January 24, 2025 – Biblioteca Nacional Aruba is proud to present E TERA DI
ANANSE, an evocative and thought-provoking exhibit by local Aruban artist Olga van Bochove.
Opening on January 24th at 7.30 pm, this immersive experience takes visitors on a journey
through the rich history and enduring legacy of the Ananse stories—ancient African tales that
have transcended time, geography and culture.
This exhibit is not just an exploration of history—it is an invitation to engage with the
complexities of cultural identity. ‘E TERA DI ANANSE’ encourages visitors to question inherited
narratives and envision new possibilities for the future. By revisiting the past, it honors the
enduring strength of ancestral traditions while acknowledging the ongoing.
Olga van Bochove’s work takes this rich cultural heritage as its foundation, offering a visual and
conceptual exploration that reimagines Ananse’s legacy, Nanzi as the spider is named in Aruba
in the context of contemporary challenges. The exhibit encourages reflection on themes of
identity and history.
The exhibit will be open to the public at Biblioteca Nacional Aruba starting on January 24, 2025.
It will run until further notice, offering both a visual and intellectual space for reflection on the role
of cultural narratives in shaping our understanding of identity and freedom.
