Parliament will address this morning the budget for the General Investment and Development Fund, a law that has already been approved and will begin translating resources into concrete investments for the people, according to Ruthlyn Lindor, Faction Leader of FUTURO.

The financial structure of this fund includes:

  • An initial allocation of approximately 33 million florins.
  • Subsequent increases through the First and Second Supplementary Budgets (Eerste y Tweede Suppletoire Begroting), reaching a total of 59 million florins.

Planned Key Investments:

  • Education: Renovation of the Reina Beatrix school and construction of two new classrooms at SGVA for children with intellectual development challenges.
  • Regional Development: Construction of the MFA in San Nicolas (3.1 million florins).
  • Infrastructure: Repair and maintenance of the road network (9.2 million florins).
  • Security and Public Service: Allocation for the Maritime Police (Maritiem Politie), equipment improvements for DOW, and continuation of e-Government digitalization to make Government services more efficient.

Efficiency in Parliamentary Work and Oversight:

Regarding the budgetary process, the improvement in the presentation of documents (where separate ring binders/’ordners’ are no longer sent for each ministry, but rather a complete overview with a detailed breakdown) allows for more efficient and effective work for the professionals at the Department of Finance (Directie Financiën) and Members of Parliament.

The evaluation mechanism at each Supplementary Budget guarantees that Parliament has the appropriate tools to monitor, evaluate, and control the correct use of every florin invested for the people.

“We need empathy and understanding to heal as a society, while investing in concrete tools for education, infrastructure, and the future of our children.”
