Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and the Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, held an informative meeting with the commission that was in dialogue with Santa Rosa regarding the “Spearfishing” law (harpoon fishing).
During the meeting, opinions and thoughts were exchanged, and clarifications were provided regarding the process of drafting the law. The members present included Mr. Edward Dirks, Mr. Marving Thiel, and Ms. Abi Kock, together with representatives from Santa Rosa.
Minister Wever expressed his appreciation for the constructive dialogue and emphasized the importance of both parties having clarity and agreement on the content and impact of the law.

Minister Wever requested two additional weeks for the representatives to further study the matter and committed to meeting again with the commission in two weeks to continue the dialogue.

This meeting is part of the process to promote ongoing dialogue with stakeholders in the primary sector and to transform the sector into a resilient and robust one. This includes evaluating and, if necessary, adapting laws related to agriculture, livestock, and fishing, as agreed in the AVP-FUTURO 2025-2028 Government Program.
