The Netherlands has reiterated its commitment to support Aruba in any scenario that may arise from the tensions between Venezuela and the United States. However, during the same discussion in the House of Representatives, it was made clear that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is not a party to the conflict, as it is a bilateral issue between the two countries.
PPA faction leader Eduard Pieters explained that the Netherlands has provided Aruba with more information than usual regarding developments along the Venezuelan–American border, including details on possible scenarios in which Dutch institutions might need to defend the Caribbean islands. Although these scenarios form part of a preparedness plan, Pieters highlighted that the Netherlands itself has made it clear that the dispute between Venezuela and the United States is not a Kingdom matter and that, for that reason, it will not take part in the conflict.
The Netherlands remains vigilant but continues to maintain the diplomatic position that the situation is not a formal responsibility of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, even though the protection of its Caribbean territories is always guaranteed.
