Following recent public discussions, the Public Entity Bonaire (OLB) is providing additional clarification about the procedure for temporarily placing and collecting green waste by pruning teams. There has been confusion about the difference between illegally dumped garbage and green waste that is part of regular maintenance. With this message, the OLB aims to explain how the process works and why green waste sometimes remains in place for several days. This green waste is placed temporarily according to a fixed procedure and is later collected and removed.
How does the process work in practice?
1. Pruning teams that carry out vegetation maintenance often encounter large quantities of green waste.
To work efficiently, it is not practical to remove small quantities separately each time.
2. In such cases, the pruning teams contact the OLB.
A request is submitted to the OLB to temporarily place the green waste on a piece of public land designated by the OLB.
3. The OLB evaluates the location.
The site is assessed for safety, accessibility, and suitability. Only when all conditions are met does the OLB grant permission to temporarily use the location as a collection point.
4. The green waste is collected within the agreed timeframe,
allowing the pruning team to continue their work efficiently without having to drive back and forth continuously. The collected green waste is then transported with heavy equipment to the landfill, after which maintenance work continues.
The OLB counts on the cooperation of residents and stresses that a proper understanding of this procedure contributes to a clean and orderly Bonaire.
