On Saturday, May 24, during the festive closure of Kids Music Week, the ACE Foundation proudly launched the new online radio station Kiddie Beats. The station is entirely dedicated to children’s music and programs, and is led by Xechel Jacobs. The idea originated from the vision of Segni Bernardina, former director and founder of the ACE Foundation.
“Kiddie Beats” was founded to fill an important gap in local media. “It has bothered me for years that radio stations don’t play music for children,” says Bernardina. “With modern technology, we can now make music specifically for children accessible – anytime and anywhere.”
When Segni shared his idea with Xechel Jacobs, he responded immediately with full enthusiasm. “I didn’t sleep that night,” says Jacobs. “Within 24 hours, I had worked out the entire concept. It just felt right.” His dedication and creativity brought Kiddie Beats to life at lightning speed.
The station follows in the footsteps of Radio Panchito, founded by Tio Toni Angila, who has been doing fantastic work for Bonaire’s children for years. Radio Panchito is still active online and offers children’s music in a calm, passive way. Kiddie Beats builds on this legacy with a fresh, interactive approach that connects with today’s children’s world of experience.
