Creando Futuronan is a workshop and mentorship program focused on culture, design, and critical thinking for young people in Aruba. It is funded by the Creative Industries Fund NL (Stimuleringsfonds) and organized by Radical Data in collaboration with Plataforma Aruba, Metabolic Foundation, Counter/Narratives, and Afaina de Jong. Based on local needs, the team will share tools and inspiration to imagine futures created by and for our communities.
What is the program?
A Caribbean digital culture and design program where young people come together to imagine and build radical futures.
Creando Futuronan is organized in two complementary tracks:
– Creando Spark (ages 12–18)
Three creative workshops where participants explore creative coding, artificial intelligence, communication networks, digital culture, and design. No prior experience is required. We learn by asking questions, using our own cultures and experiences as a starting point, and working and playing together as a community. The workshops will take place on Saturday afternoons in November.
– Creando Sustain (ages 18–30)
An intensive 8-session lab (2 sessions per week) for emerging artists and designers. Participants will develop projects that reflect their own realities, envision fairer futures for our islands, and learn how to build a sustainable cultural space. They will use practical methods combining personal storytelling, collective learning, and Radical Data’s Dissect–Imagine Create approach. Sessions will take place in the afternoon. All participants who complete the program will receive a stipend.

– Location: RAA! (Residencia Artistico Aruba)
– Language: English, with support in Papiamento and Spanish
– Commitment: Full attendance is required for the program
