After an extensive meeting in Parliament, the Parliament of Aruba approved the 2026 Budget of the Country of Aruba. The parliamentary leader of the People’s Electoral Movement (MEP), Evelyn Wever-Croes, expressed her satisfaction with the approval of the budget.
According to Wever-Croes, the approval of the budget also confirms that the sound financial management during the Wever-Croes I and II cabinets created a solid foundation, allowing the current AVP–FUTURO government to have the space to implement its projects and vision. The parliamentary leader emphasized that the financial stability achieved during the previous period made it possible for the current government to speak about investment and development.
Wever-Croes indicated that the financial discipline applied by MEP during its time in government established a base upon which the country can continue to build. According to her, the fact that there is continuity in various projects today is an indication that the previous financial management was carried out responsibly.
In this context, the parliamentary leader expressed her appreciation to former Minister of Finance Xiomara Maduro and her team of financial professionals, DIMP, and legislation experts, for their contribution to strengthening Aruba’s financial position. According to Wever-Croes, the correct decisions made in the past are producing positive results today.
“If the financial work had not been done at those moments, no government would have room to present projects or a vision,” Wever-Croes stated.
The MEP parliamentary leader concluded that the work carried out by her party laid a strong foundation for the current government and future governments. She also noted that several projects included in the 2026 Budget are projects initiated by MEP that are continuing forward, something she described as worthy of appreciation.
