For two days, Aruba serves as the meeting point for government representatives and tourism industry stakeholders from various countries during an international forum organized by SITA at the Embassy Suites Aruba. Experts from across the Caribbean and Central America gathered to gain valuable insights into modern travel technologies.

SITA is a global leader in information and communications technology for the aviation sector. Its solutions are utilized by airlines, airports, and governments worldwide, covering areas such as passenger processing, digital identity and biometrics, data sharing, airport operations, and border control.

Minister of Justice Mr. Arthur Dowers officially opened the international forum. In his opening address, Minister Dowers emphasized the crucial role of modern technology in enhancing border management with a focus on security, while noting that technology alone is not sufficient.

The forum focuses on technological advancements transforming the aviation industry and border management, including the digitalization of travel processes, digital identity and biometrics, passenger facilitation, data exchange, and operational solutions aimed at increasing efficiency and security.

For Aruba—an island with an international airport where global connectivity is vital to the economy—modern and effective border control is essential. These technological developments offer opportunities to continuously update operational processes, while requiring well-trained personnel, strong inter-agency cooperation, and effective information sharing.

Minister Dowers expressed his gratitude to SITA for selecting Aruba as the host nation for this event. He noted that hosting the conference allows Aruba to bring together international experts and partners to exchange knowledge and expertise on developments critical to the future of travel and border security.

Over the course of the two-day event, participants will exchange knowledge, share best practices, and explore technological solutions that continue to shape the future of travel and border control.
