Last night, the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA) held a farewell meeting for the TEAMARU delegations that will participate in the Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) Santo Domingo 2026 and the South American Games Santa Fe 2026. The games will take place consecutively, with Santo Domingo 2026 scheduled for July/August and Santa Fe 2026 for September. All participating athletes and coaches were invited to this meeting, along with their member federations, the support team assisting the athletes, and various important stakeholders who contribute to TEAMARU’s preparation and participation in the Olympic Cycle Games.
To present information about the Games and the delegations, the two Chefs de Mission took the floor: Rodymar Geerman, who will lead the group for Santo Domingo 2026, and Patrick Werleman, who will be in charge of the Santa Fe 2026 group. Following welcoming remarks by COA Secretary General Ms. Nicole Hoevertsz, details about both Games were shared, followed by the official presentation of the athletes who will compete in each discipline. Between the two Games, 34 athletes will participate as TEAMARU, competing in 10 different sports disciplines.
During the delegation presentation, uniforms were handed out, and each athlete received a “goodie bag” courtesy of the “Fundacion Lotto pa Deporte” (Lottery for Sports Foundation), which contributed significantly this year to TEAMARU’s preparation for the Games. Our delegations are ready to represent Aruba with dignity once again, and the COA is ready to support them every step of the way.
