Everyone needs to grow spiritually because the wisdom of God is for all people. The word of God is for everyone, and God shows no partiality.
However, there are things that can happen in our lives that truly hinder our spiritual growth. These are things we must take into account in order to live in accordance with the will of God and inherit the kingdom of God:
Pride
Arrogance
Bad friendships
Perversity
Lack of forgiveness
Bad words (foul language)
Immorality
Lack of prayer and not visiting the house of God
Lack of Bible reading
When there is no spiritual growth, we remain vulnerable to all attacks from the enemy. For whatever he may bring our way, we will fall into his trap.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. (Hebrews 12:1).
Let us not continue living our whole lives saying every day that we are not perfect, but read carefully and understand what the word of God says:
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).*
Now, we are people of God seeking perfection in Christ Jesus, because the word of God says in Romans 6:14: For sin shall no longer have dominion over you, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Furthermore, it is written even more clearly in Galatians 5:1, saying: It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
In 1 Corinthians 15:33 it is written: Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” This means you must take into account whose company you keep.
One of the things that hinders people from growing spiritually is Laziness:
Lazy to pray
Lazy to go to church
Lazy to praise God
Lazy to evangelize
Lazy to work for the Lord
These are people who have time for everything, but as soon as the things of God are involved, they become lazy. Laziness is the sibling of poverty—not only financially, but also spiritually. The word of God says: All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. (Proverbs 14:23).
In Matthew 25:24-28, it is written how God deals with laziness and a lack of sincerity.
The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. (Proverbs 17:27).
God takes our behavior into account very much—how we behave as children of God. Remember what Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:10, how many things he explained to Timothy, saying: You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance.
Paul also explained in 2 Timothy 3:12, saying: In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
Therefore, we must stand firm in our Faith and not lead a life of partying (revelry), because we cannot serve two gods; we must stand by what we speak. We cannot serve two gods, nor can we eat from two tables. It is impossible for the head and heart to be in holiness while the body enjoys the world. The word of God says that our entire body belongs to God, and our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
