‘Pancho y su drum’ (Pancho and His Drum) is a book written by Lizette Winterdal and illustrated by Roman Gibbs. Children’s author Lizette Winterdal presented her book this week at the library, and we received 5 copies so our young readers can get to know Pancho. The book shows how a child uses his imagination to transform an everyday object into a musical instrument. In his eagerness to make music, he faces a dilemma when he realizes his mother needs her “drum” (bucket/container). How will Pancho solve this problem? Lizette Winterdal is the author of three children’s books: ‘Mayra su regalo’, ‘Dos lagadishi sinta riba un nanishi’, and ‘Pancho y su drum’. “Lizette has a passion for writing stories, poems, and rhymes. Families and friends can enjoy reading her stories together and have a wonderful time.”
Lizette Winterdal was born on April 12, 1979, in Aruba and grew up in San Nicolas. Her native languages are English and Papiamento. Lizette comes from a family of 7 sisters and is the youngest of them all. Alongside her job, she attended night school at Avondhavo San Nicolas and earned her HAVO diploma. Lizette’s dream is to become a teacher, and she is currently studying at the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA). She decided to switch fields, and her current program is a Bachelor in Dutch as a Foreign Language (Nederlands als Vreemde Taal). She enjoys music and dancing. Her hobbies include writing stories, poetry, and rhymes. She says that reading a book is like getting a free ticket to visit beautiful places and meet new characters.
Lizette has 4 children: 1 son, Brandon, and three daughters, Crystal, April, and Gili. This is the second time Lizette is participating in the Children’s Book Festival (Festival di buki pa mucha), and she is delighted to share stories with the children. Reading makes us happy.
