Open day Marine barracks Savaneta

Opendag 2025 5 1

Thursday May 1st., the yearly Open Day of the Marine Barracks Savaneta took place. From 10:00 till 16:00 hrs. The Barracks were open for the public with a varied program for young and old.

The open day offered a wide range of activities and demonstrations, giving visitors a unique insight into the work of Defense and its security partners. The Marine Corps, the Aruban Military, the Social Education Trajectory (SVT), the Royal Marechaussee, the Caribbean Coast Guard, the Aruba Police Corps, and the Aruba Fire Department were present to show what they have to offer.

During the day, demonstrations took place on both land and water, with various scenarios being reenacted. In addition to these demonstrations, Haerfen, Honeypot, Lightskin Rasta and  Jralph took care of live music, Cool/Fresh FM live radio was there, and market stalls and food trucks provided visitors with treats and souvenirs to take home.

A nice highlight was the support for charities by selling lottery tickets, green pea soup, caps, mugs, calendars, and other fun items. In total, the sale raised 27.500 AWG. The entire proceeds will go to two charities this year: Fundacion Pas Nos Comunidad and House of Skate Aruba.

Another special moment was the special open day on Wednesday 30 April for 80 children from Scol Caiquetio. These children cannot participate in the regular open day due to their disabilities. That is why we invited them a day earlier, so that they too could enjoy a nice day in the world of Defence.

The success of the Open Day of Marine Barracks Savaneta was due to the efforts of all involved and the many enthusiastic visitors who came to take a look. The event not only contributes to raising awareness of the work of Defense and security partners, but also offered valuable support to two local charities. Until next year: May 1, 2026!
