On World Diabetes Day, Aruba One Happy Island Lions Club, in collaboration with the POH (Primary Care Nurse Practitioners), delivered an educational and interactive session at St. Dominicus College. A large group of students participated and paid close attention throughout the presentation.
The session focused on:
– Providing basic knowledge about diabetes
– Explaining the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes
– Emphasizing the importance of healthy eating, drinking water, and being physically active
– Encouraging students to make healthy choices to prevent type 2 diabetes
One of the most enjoyable parts was the Kahoot educational game, where students enthusiastically answered questions related to diabetes and healthy living. They demonstrated great knowledge and curiosity about the topic.
At the end, the students received an apple with the message:
“You are responsible for taking care of your own body! Eat fruit, drink water, move your body.”
They also received a leaflet with important information.
Special thanks to:
– POH for the clear, friendly, and student-focused explanation
– St. Dominicus College for their cooperation
– Hilton Hotel and Riu Hotel for their support
– BID for their contribution
