Protesta Ayden Lanoy 1

This morning, during the criminal proceedings against officers M.V. and R.G.D., the parents and partner of Ayden Lanoy addressed the Court.

It was clear that the courtroom was highly emotional when Ayden Lanoy’s parents spoke.

“They Killed My Son Without Giving Him a Chance to Surrender”

Lanoy’s mother, visibly emotional, took the floor. She told the Judge, with deep pain as a mother, that she was devastated by how the police acted against her son. Overcome with grief and anger, she stated that the two officers killed her son. She requested that the Judge investigate what truly happened.

The mother asked, “Why didn’t they give my son a chance to surrender?” She said the officers did not know Ayden. In tears, she expressed: “They denied Ayden his right to life.” She added, “Whatever sentence the Judge gives will not change the pain I carry.” She stressed that the officers did not give her son any opportunity to live.

She also stated that Ayden had no problems with the justice system. Everyone who knew him knew him as a cheerful person, and without reason, the officers took his life.

She said, “How can the Judge expect me to live knowing that two individuals who killed my son say they were just doing their job?” She acknowledged that she knows the Judge seeks clarity in the case but questioned: “Police officers who are supposed to ensure safety and order have brought mourning into my life.”

Ayden’s Partner Speaks

Ayden’s partner said the incident completely changed her life. Emotional, she said she spends nights unable to sleep. She shared that her 7-month-old child looks for his father, and she struggles with how to explain to her child that police officers, who are meant to protect people, killed his father. She said it is very difficult to live without Ayden.

The atmosphere in the courtroom was extremely emotional. Many people were crying. Members of CEA distributed tissues to those who were in tears.

“Why Did You Fire So Many Shots at My Son?”

Ayden’s father, visibly angry, asked the two officers why they fired so many shots at his son. He questioned whether they were under the influence of alcohol or another substance. He expressed that if the weapon had contained more bullets, they would have fired even more. He also emphasized that if there had been more people in the car, it could have resulted in a massacre.

Members of CEA handed out tissues to those who were crying.

The case will continue on Monday, February 23, 2026.
