The MAN-PIN faction has taken note of the 2025 Social Survey report, prepared by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), which shows different aspects of the social and economic reality of our country.
The report indicates that the socio-economic situation of many households is under pressure. It is no secret that poverty is increasing in our country and that many families have difficulty covering their basic needs.
According to the survey, in 2025, 53.6% of households cannot meet the payment of their debts. This reflects the great financial pressure that many families are experiencing. In recent years, the problem of debt has become an important topic in various discussions, considering that a large number of people have to borrow money to cover basic living expenses. The call for an official authority that can offer guidance and assistance to people facing debt problems is more urgent than ever.
Furthermore, this situation has consequences that go beyond just the financial aspect. It affects people’s social and mental well-being, as well as their physical health. According to the CBS publication, a large group in our community does not do enough physical activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle. At the same time, many people visit the doctor for medical reasons or call in sick (“meld ziek”) at work, situations that may be related to stress and financial pressure.
On this topic, our faction has asked a total of 7 questions and asks the Government, in this case the Minister of SOAW, to take action:
Has the Minister taken note of the 2025 Social Survey report by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS)?
Is the Minister aware of the difficult financial situation in which many households find themselves?
Is the Minister aware of the fact that the problem of debt causes many people to live under stress, which can have consequences for their mental and physical health?
What is the Government’s vision and what concrete measures are being prepared to address this problem, both in the short and long term?
Is the Government willing to declare the problem of household debt as one of the main priorities in its social policy management?
In what timeframe will the Government present and implement concrete measures to address this problem, considering that the situation contributes to social, economic, and public health problems?
What is the status of the promised poverty policy?
