Gino Goeloe with the plan to vote “FOR” HOFA and subsequently assume a Director position at ImSan
Member of Parliament Endy Croes is making public a situation that until today remained silent within the halls of Cocolishi.
Since July 17, the Parliament of Aruba has been in recess. This does not mean that a parliamentarian’s work stops. Various members of the MEP party are present almost every day in Parliament during this period. However, the parliamentarians of AVP and Futuro are completely absent. But it is precisely in these moments that the corridors speak the loudest.
Goeloe wants to be Director of ImSan
It is a fact that MP Gino Goeloe of Futuro formally applied for the position of Director at ImSan San Nicolas. This is the same Gino Goeloe whom his own fraction removed as Fraction Leader just a few months after his appointment, replacing him with MP Lindor. We cannot forget that this happened without any public communication.
However, what concerns MP Endy Croes is not the application itself, but the logic behind it.
According to a reliable source, the plan was simple: Goeloe would vote “for” HOFA before the end of the year, fulfilling the desire of his leaders Gerlien Croes and Geoffrey Wever, and thereby ensuring his party would support him in the process for the ImSan position. In other words, Goeloe wanted to vote to surrender our autonomy and then land safely to collect his reward.
The deal, however, did not go through.
Minister Mervin Wyatt Ras of AVP received the news and categorically denied Goeloe’s candidacy
According to information from the parliamentary corridors, AVP has its own candidates for ImSan and the Hospital, and is not willing to cede these positions to Futuro. The coalition that publicly presents a united front is negotiating internally over positions as if the administration of our country were a free market of exchange.
MP Endy Croes expresses that although he often disagrees with Minister Wyatt Ras’s general management, he understands this decision. A deal where a vote on our autonomy is traded for a governmental post is something that cannot be accepted, regardless of who proposes it or who denies it.
MP Endy Croes asks the people of Aruba to do something simple: evaluate it for yourselves. We are talking about a parliamentarian who is willing to vote on the future of Aruba’s financial autonomy in exchange for a position. A coalition that is fracturing internally over who gets what post. A decision-making process regarding HOFA that takes place in silence while the people who have to live with the consequences are neither consulted nor heard.
“The people of Aruba deserve better, and believe me, the people of Aruba are watching!”, Endy Croes concluded.
