Recently, the Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transportation and Energy, Mr. Drs. Arthur Dowers, received a comprehensive presentation from executives of the Aruban Oil Company (CAP) regarding the status of oil and natural gas exploration activities. The meeting focused on sustainable and responsible energy development.
During the presentation, CAP provided an update on the ongoing work being carried out by Armstrong Oil & Gas in the context of oil or natural gas exploration in the territorial waters surrounding Aruba. The exploration process is progressing according to technical planning, while complying with all applicable international standards and legal requirements related to this type of activity.
The next phase is to determine which site is most promising to begin drilling, a process that will also require time and caution. The phase in which Armstrong Oil & Gas currently finds itself is a very costly but necessary step in order to eventually reach the drilling stage. This is not a rapid process, but rather a technical trajectory that will take several months before full clarity is achieved. The current phase is focused on scientific research, data collection, and geological evaluation, which will serve as the foundation for any future decisions.
Transparency, responsibility, and the national interest remain central in every step under consideration.
Minister Dowers emphasized that the government will continue to closely monitor the process, prioritizing environmental protection, community safety, and economic benefits for the people of Aruba. Any potential development within the energy sector must take place within a framework of sustainability, with respect for both present and future generations.
