The Red Democratico party has taken note of Minister Gerlien Croes’ statement claiming that nothing was done for school maintenance under previous governments. This is a lie. We are publishing a part of former Minister Lampe’s handover document, which shows all the work done on our school infrastructure and includes the amount left in the 2021 budget used to renovate the St. Aloysius School in Noord. The choice was made to transfer the Juliana and Beatrix schools to an international private medical university, which would have renovated both schools at no cost to the government and brought foreign students to live in downtown Oranjestad (Caya Grandi). Meanwhile, former Minister Lampe ensured that the Beatrix School got its own functioning building next to the Post Office in Playa. The plan left behind was for the Juliana School to integrate into Colegio Arubano to become a mavo-havo-vwo school, much like Mon Plaisir and De Schakel. The number of students at Colegio Arubano had decreased, leaving enough space to carry out this integration without costing the government a single cent.
1.9 Infrastructure
The allocated investment amounts are included in Table 3, and Table 4 provides a summary of the infrastructure work carried out.
