Tuesday morning, a pleasure trip turned into a tragedy in the Mangel Halto area, where an American visitor passed away after facing difficulties in the sea.
The incident was reported to the police dispatch around 11:11 AM. According to initial reports, the alert came via Coast Guard (AC) personnel, indicating that a male individual was in trouble in the water and was unresponsive. Police patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.
Resuscitation Efforts At the scene, it turned out that the victim was snorkeling with his wife. At a certain moment, the woman noticed her husband was no longer responding in the water and immediately raised the alarm. People nearby on kayaks reacted together to help pull the body out and bring it to shore.
Once on dry land, bystanders began CPR procedures. Upon the arrival of the ambulance, paramedics continued resuscitation efforts and did their utmost to stabilize the man, but unfortunately, the body did not respond.
Confirmation of Death Dr. Voskuil arrived at the scene to officially confirm the death of the male tourist, identified as a 56-year-old American citizen.
Due to the strong emotional impact this incident caused the family, Victim Support (Slachtofferhulp) also arrived at Mangel Halto. This department is tasked with providing necessary guidance and support to loved ones during these moments of grief and shock.
The Aruba Police Force issued a statement extending their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
