With more than 20 years of living in the Netherlands, Aruban native Juvienne Luidens is a living example of how determination and creativity can pave the way for success abroad. What started as a passion for creating ambiance at family parties has today become her own business, Nvmy Party Stylist, a name that is ringing louder and louder within the community.
Juvienne shared that her adventure in the decoration world formally began around seven years ago. “I started accepting this challenge of doing party decorations across different categories, such as baby showers and children’s parties,” Juvienne shares enthusiastically. But the vision for Nvmy Party Stylist went much further; the goal was to offer a complete service where the client does not have to worry about a thing.

The primary inspiration for entering this world was her own son. “My son is 16 years old today. Ever since he was little, you want to make the cake yourself, you want to do a little decoration, put balloons here and there. I have always been showcasing my creative side. I love working with my hands and thinking ‘out of the box’.”

As this energy and these ideas kept growing, Juvienne began connecting with key people in the party planning community, which gave her the push to formalize her dream, communicate with others in the field, and simply go for it.

One of the biggest setbacks for a decorator in the Netherlands is the cultural difference in celebrations compared to Aruba. “You have to change your mindset,” Juvienne explains. “What we are used to doing in Aruba is a ‘great job’, but here in the Netherlands, it is on a completely different level with different concepts.”

Juvienne noticed that while the European Dutch community used to be accustomed to simpler celebrations—such as buying a cake at a grocery store, blowing up a few balloons, and singing—the trend has changed drastically in recent years. “Now you can see that due to American influence and big-name artists, the Dutch also want to throw big parties. Social media played a role in this, and now everyone wants something like that.” During this transition, Nvmy Party Stylist successfully positioned itself appropriately.

Despite her commercial success with Nvmy Party Stylist, Juvienne keeps her feet firmly on the ground and her heart remains in Aruba. When asked if she plans to return to live on her island, she laughs: “To move back to Aruba to live, no. I will keep going back on vacation, for sure, to be close to my family and my friends, but to live, no. I have built my life here in the Netherlands.”

Juvienne took a moment to send a warm greeting to her entire family in Aruba: the Luidens family, the Croes family, her sister, and all the people who always give her and her business their full support.

Nvmy Party Stylist is living proof that with a lot of love, dedication, and creativity, Arubans can make it happen anywhere in the world! For more information on her designs, you can visit Nvmy Party Stylist’s social media.
