An earthquake signifies the power of God, an earthquake signifies the judgment of God, but Jesus also spoke of earthquakes, pestilence, and wars as signs of His coming.
In an earthquake, the power of God is manifested by what an earthquake can do in just a few seconds. Weapons or bombs made by human hands remain small in comparison.
An earthquake is the power of nature, and the power of nature is the power of God. From the beginning of the world, God has demonstrated His power through earthquakes, because only God can make the earth shake.
Only the power of God can make the earth open up and swallow people and buildings, and above all, an earthquake does not give a warning the way bad weather and hurricanes can.
Just as an earthquake arrives without warning, so will the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ be, because no one knows the day or the hour when He will come.
Jesus warned that there would be things that are going to happen—things that have already been happening for a long time—which point very clearly to the coming of our Lord.
But just as in the days of Noah or Sodom and Gomorrah, instead of drawing closer to God, people reject, mock, and even claim that science and materialism know more than God.
As the word says in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 regarding how the character of people will change in these last times, which we all see are perilous times we are living in; because many people, instead of repenting, compromise themselves more with the world.
The Lord left a serious warning for all those who believe in God, to remind us all of what 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says: “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body.”
It seems as though many people do not hear, see, or listen to these verses, but they speak clearly about what God has placed within us, and how we must live with God, because it is a great privilege when the Holy Spirit of God is within us. That is why the enemy hates us, because of the direct contact we receive with God when we surrender our lives to Christ Jesus and believe in Him, as the word says in Romans 10:9-11.
From the beginning of the world, earthquakes have been used by God to demonstrate that God is angry when people rebel against God, when people are constantly in idolatry, witchcraft, and injustice, because those things provoke the wrath of God and destruction takes place.
And if we look closely, there is no part of the world where an earthquake cannot take place, because the power of nature and the wrath and warning of God reach everywhere.
In Jeremiah 10:10 it is written: “But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth will tremble, and the nations will not be able to endure His indignation.”
Nowadays, people use a lot of protocols to stay on good terms with each other, and they do not speak the truth the way John the Baptist told Herod, but God in His immense power demonstrates His wrath and His warning to the entire world.
Jesus says in Matthew 24:7-8 that this will be the beginning of birth pains, meaning there is still more to come.
Matthew 24:13 says: “But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”
