The Unity Aruba Team, guided by Coach Dwaine Felida and his coaching staff, continues to make an excellent impression at the 16th JMD International Baseball Tournament in Punta Cana. Through great dedication, discipline, and solid preparation, both the U10 and U8 teams have successfully qualified for the quarterfinals, which will be played tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
In addition to the Unity Aruba team, several other young Aruban baseball players are representing our island with great pride. CJ Roosberg and Shondrick Solognier are competing with Team Panama in the U12 category, while Cayden Fraser and Ray-Zion Jack are performing excellently with the Team USA squad in the U14 category. This U14 US team has qualified for the quarterfinals, an achievement that confirms the high level of baseball talent Aruba possesses.
More than just winning or losing a game, the tournament offers a unique experience for the children. During the event, they have the opportunity to play against teams from different countries, build international friendships, learn about other cultures, and discover how to compete at a higher level.
One of the most special aspects of the tournament is that the young players get to meet MLB alumnus Omar Vazquez, renowned scout Jose Fortuna, and many other professional scouts, coaches, and baseball leaders who are present to observe talent, share their knowledge, and inspire the next generation of players.
Experiences like this build character, boost confidence, and motivate children to keep working hard to achieve their dreams. Aruba can be proud of the representation our young athletes are showing on the international stage.
Good luck to all the Aruban players in the quarterfinals. Aruba is with you!
