“Cuida Aruba” Action Bears Fruit: Citizens Respond to the Appeal to Clean Aruba

Maikel Gomes

The campaign to keep Aruba clean and enforce the law regarding the illegal use of government land is already yielding positive results. Bureau City Inspector (BCI) spokesperson, Maikel Gomes, expressed great satisfaction with the community’s cooperation and quick response over the past few hours.

The People Listened: Illegal Cars are Disappearing
The inspection work by the BCI and authorities focuses on abandoned cars and objects placed illegally on public land. Gomes stated that between yesterday and this morning, a noticeable difference was recorded:

“We noticed a big difference. I believe the news got out, the people listened and took action. Many cars have already been removed between yesterday and this morning. It means the people listened.”

Gomes emphasized that public land is not a place where someone can just leave their belongings or a non-functional car. BCI remains continuous and firm in these cases to ensure the law is respected and public spaces stay clear and clean.

On behalf of the Minister of General Affairs, the Director of the Bureau City Inspector, the Aruba Police Force (KPA), and all government agencies collaborating on this project, Gomes made a heartfelt appeal to the people of Aruba to make good use of these days.

The second edition of “Cuida Aruba” is taking place, and the main goal is to give every citizen the opportunity to dispose of their waste and trash responsibly, instead of dumping it on public land.

Today (the 26th), inspectors from the Bureau City Inspector along with other agencies will be present to monitor and ensure everything runs smoothly at the following locations:

San Nicolas: At the Botica Central / Medical Center field

Poochies: Baseball Field

Barcadera: Including the waste zone

Santa Cruz: At the Winston field

Tanki Leendert: Colegio Oro Ubo

Oranjestad: At the Playa Pa Bou center

A Final Message for All of Aruba
The Bureau City Inspector encourages all residents to make use of these drop-off points. “Take advantage of this day, all the people of Aruba, bring all your waste and make good use of this opportunity so we can keep our island clean,” Gomes concluded.
