Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transport, and Energy, Mr. Arthur Dowers, LL.M, M.Sc., alongside the delegation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, attended today the opening day of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The General Debate commenced today, September 22, at UN Headquarters, bringing together Heads of State and Government, ministers, and other high-level representatives from around the globe. The General Assembly will proceed through September 26 and conclude on September 28.
Minister Dowers is participating in High-Level Week as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands delegation. Aruba’s presence within the delegation offers an opportunity for our country to be represented in international dialogues and to maintain active engagement with both Kingdom and international partners.
Throughout the week, a range of key global issues will feature on the agenda, including sustainable development, climate change, health, peace, and security. For Aruba, several of these topics carry direct relevance, given our position as a small island and the specific challenges that come with it. The official High-Level Week program includes high-level meetings on climate action, the right to development, sea level rise, and pandemic preparedness.
Minister Dowers’ participation during High-Level Week reflects Aruba’s commitment to remaining actively involved in international dialogue and cooperation, ensuring that our island’s reality and interests continue to receive due attention within the Kingdom context.
