Bonaire Now Equipped with New Instruments for Better-Substantiated Economic Policy

Bonaire Cuenta Con Nuevos Instrumentos Para Una Mejor Gestion Economica

The Public Entity of Bonaire recently acquired two newly developed economic management models: the macroeconomic model BONóstiko and the purchasing power model KOMBO. With these models, the Public Entity of Bonaire can better identify the economic and social consequences of policy choices, ensuring decisions are increasingly based on data, facts, and objective analysis.

To strengthen knowledge within the organization, the Economic Bureau Amsterdam (Economisch Bureau Amsterdam – EBA) provided a two-day training session at the beginning of July for employees of the Public Entity of Bonaire and the Deputy of Economic Affairs. Additionally, the models were presented to the Executive Council and various stakeholders, ensuring they are aware of the possibilities offered by these new instruments.

BONóstiko makes it possible to track economic developments and calculate various policy and future scenarios. KOMBO demonstrates the consequences of changes in taxes and social security on the purchasing power of different households.

Deputy of Economic Affairs Jennifer Mohamedjoenoes stated: “With BONóstiko and KOMBO, we are not only investing in new instruments but primarily in the knowledge and analytical capacity of Bonaire. In this way, we can better substantiate our policy choices and work toward a strong and resilient economy for the future.”

By using BONóstiko and KOMBO, the Public Entity of Bonaire is taking an important step toward professional and data-driven economic management, where the consequences of policy measures can be measured more accurately.
