Aruba’s unions are inviting the community to take part in a demonstration against the HOFA Law. The event will take place at Fort Zoutman on March 18, starting at 7:00 AM.
According to the organizers, the demonstration aims to attract attention from the Dutch press and show that the people of Aruba do not agree with the HOFA Law. Participants are asked to arrive early, at 6:45 AM, to meet with the TOPA group in the parking lot of the former La Linda on Caya di Playa. From there, they will go together to Fort Zoutman.
Instructions for Participants:
- Wear all black clothing.
- Do not bring items that could create noise, such as bells or whistles.
- Do not bring backpacks.
The organizers emphasize that the demonstration will be peaceful and passive. “We count on your presence. Now is the time to show our dissatisfaction with the Rijkswet,” the unions’ statement reads.
The invitation remains open to the entire community, and all union members are encouraged to attend.
Tomorrow morning, all unions will take action to show their disagreement with the HOFA Law. The protest is directed at King Willem-Alexander and the government of Aruba, to demonstrate opposition to the legal process that was followed and to prevent serious harm to Aruba.
Members of SEPPA are invited to be present at Fort Zoutman at 7:00 AM. The invitation also extends to family, friends, and anyone who disagrees with the law.
“Unity makes strength. We are one Aruba. Come together and defend what is ours,” the statement concludes.
