During the second day of Easter, a shooting incident unfortunately occurred on Koningstraat, an area already known for various illegal activities. Koningstraat has become increasingly dangerous over the years, and the situation has escalated recently. Police have acknowledged a worsening of the problem in the area.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., police dispatch was notified of a shooting on Koningstraat. Initial information obtained by the police indicated that two male suspects were involved, who allegedly fired shots and fled the scene in a white vehicle. Upon arrival, patrol officers found shell casings, bullet impacts, and blood stains.
The Criminal Investigation Department (Recherche) contacted the hospital to determine whether any injured person would seek medical treatment, in order to be informed immediately. According to a police spokesperson, nearly an hour and a half later, a wounded individual arrived at the hospital with a gunshot injury, at which point the police were notified.
At the time of reporting, the victim was in stable condition. The individual is a 29-year-old Colombian national. The police are calling on the Aruba community for assistance and urge anyone who may have seen or knows anything about the incident to contact the police tip line at 11141.
