On December 7, the Caribbean Media Exchange Leadership Awards ceremony took place in Miami, Florida. Caribbean Media Exchange (CMEx) is a regional platform dedicated to strengthening collaboration across the Caribbean. It is an event that brings together professionals, media, and influencers to discuss key topics such as tourism, culture, and social issues. The event also honors distinguished leaders whose work significantly influences tourism, culture, and development across the Caribbean. This year, Ronella Croes, Chief Executive Officer of the Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.), was recognized with a Leadership Award.
“I am truly honored to receive this recognition. My heartfelt thanks to the entire CMEx team for this. I am also grateful for the acknowledgment among such an exceptional group of leaders, and to be part of those honored this year for their dedication to elevating our region. Standing among them fills me with immense pride. My passion for the travel and hospitality industry has always guided me,” was Ronella Croes’ initial reaction to the recognition.
Ronella Croes began her journey as a tourism director at the age of 27—a young, driven, and determined professional committed to making a difference. More than two decades later, she has had the privilege of serving two Caribbean destinations and remains committed to guiding the next generation of leaders. “It is important to show young people that they too can lead with confidence, drive meaningful change, and have a lasting impact within the community,” she continued.
After more than two decades in the industry, change has become evident in many ways. As global sentiment shifts and destinations see an increase in overtourism, the industry now calls for embracing something new and adapting. At A.T.A., the approach focuses on responsible tourism.
A.T.A. is extremely proud of their CEO, Ronella Croes, for her leadership, commitment, and dedication to Aruba and its tourism sector.
